TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG

Hawaii may have been 2007’s most overrated team as they leveraged a decent QB to run up the score on a series of overmatched foes.  They managed to finish undefeated and wrangle a BCS bowl invite where their rightful place on the college football pecking order was made clear as #5 Georgia destroyed them in the Sugar Bowl by a 41-10 score in a game that wasn’t even as close as the score indicated.

The Rainbows hotshot QB Colt Brennan is now playing for the Washington Redskins, and Hawaii is still taking its lumps from college football’s “big dogs”…er….”big gators”.  #5 Florida, despite some skill position injuries and with a one dimensional run oriented offense designed to make things easy on QB Tim Tebow, rolled to a 56-0 lead before cruising to a 56-10 victory over Hawaii.  The Gators employed a balance run attack, with 4 different players scoring rushing TDs and added two INT returns for TDs.  The lopsided loss made Hawaii a combined 97-20 loser in their last two games against SEC opponents, serving notice as to the harsh reality of where a Mountain West team really ranks among college football’s elite.

Much like Southern Cal, Florida has a huge game on deck next week as they entertain hated rival Miami.  The Gators have lost six straight to the ‘Canes, and to say that Urban Meyer wants to get this monkey off of his back would be an understatement.  If today’s performance on both sides of the ball—including a defensive effort that forced six turnovers—is any indication they’ve got a good chance of ending that streak in emphatic fashion.

Miami opened their season on Thursday night, easily defeating FCS/1-AA Charleston Southern 52-7 in the ‘canes debut in their new home at Dolphin Stadium.
