2009-11-19
TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG The Arizona Cardinals spotted the Seattle Seahawks a 17-10 halftime lead before roaring back in the second half to take a 31-20 home victory.  Rookie Beanie Wells rushed for two touchdowns during the second half rally and Kurt Warner threw for 340 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.  Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw for 315 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted twice.  The victory improved Arizona ‘s record to 6-3, while the Seahawks dropped to 3-6.

The second half surge by Arizona also got the money for NFL pointspread players as the Cardinals covered the spread as -8 home favorites.  Arizona improved their ATS record to 6-3, while Seattle dropped to 3-6 versus the number.  The 51 combined points went OVER the total of 46’.  The Cardinals have gone OVER in four of their nine games this season including three straight.  The Seahawks have also gone OVER in their last three games and five of nine overall.

Arizona QB Warner said afterwards that the game had a strange dynamic for his team:

"Parts of the first half seemed so difficult for us to do anything then we came back in the second half and sometimes it seemed almost easy."

While rookie Wells said that he’s learned to fight through this kind of adversity from his mentors on the team:

"What we learned from the coaching staff and the veterans around here is not to give up just to keep on truckin'."

Warner praised his team’s young running back:

"I think we all see why we drafted him where we did and what he brings to the table and the power and the strength and explosion that he brings to an offense."

Seattle’s Hasselbeck was bothered by a sore shoulder but didn’t blame his ailment for his struggles:

"The shoulder is OK. It's the same, no worse. I felt like last week I didn't really have much to offer, by way of zip on the ball, but I felt much better this week."

Seahawks’ head coach Jim Mora tried to claim a moral victory from the first half performance of his team:
"I think when we look back at this we'll see that we did improve as a football team today but it's not good enough yet, not good enough to beat these guys yet."

Arizona will head to St. Louis this weekend to face the hapless Rams.  The Cardinals are a -9 road favorite with the total set at 46’.  They’ll play at Tennessee the following Sunday before returning home on December 6 to take on the Minnesota Vikings.  Seattle will play at Minnesota this Sunday, with the Seahawks a +11 road underdog and the total set at 46.  They’ll then play at St. Louis before returning home to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
