JAGUARS HOLD OFF BILLS

2009-11-27
TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG Buffalo Bills’ star receiver Terrell Owens finally broke out for a big game with 197 yards receiving, but it wasn’t enough as the Jacksonville Jaguars used a late drive engineered by quarterback David Garrard to win their third straight game 18-15.  The Jags scored the decisive touchdown in the final minute of play for the second straight week and improved their record to 6-4 while the Bills dropped to 3-7.

Despite the straight up loss, the Bills did enough to get the money for NFL pointspread players as they covered as +8’ road underdogs.  Buffalo evened their ATS mark at 5-5 on the year while Jacksonville dropped to 4-6 against the money.  The 33 points scored went UNDER the posted total of 41.  The Bills have gone UNDER in six of their ten games this season, while the Jaguars have gone OVER in six of ten.

Garrard talked about his team’s recent penchant for come from behind last minute rallies and the positive impact it’s made on their confidence:

"It's just something that continues to give this team, this offense, confidence. You're not going to get it every time, but when you do, you've got to relish it, learn from it and understand what it's like to be in that moment."

"Any given play, we can make it happen. Guys know when we get in that situation it's not a loss. It's an opportunity for us to go make the plays to get the win. When I walk into that huddle, you can see it in everybody's eyes. Nobody has that glassy-eyed look. Everybody's focused and ready to roll."

Despite his big day statistically, Owens wasn’t happy with the loss:

"All for nothing when you don't get the win. I'm glad for the opportunity to make big plays, what I've always wanted to do. We came up short."

Jacksonville will try to keep their winning streak alive on the road this Sunday as they make the long trip cross country to play the San Francisco 49ers.  The Jaguars are a +3 road underdog with the total set at 41’.  They’ll then return home for their next two games taking on the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins.  The Bills will host the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, with Buffalo a +3 home underdog and the total set at 40.  They’ll play the New York Jets at home on Thursday, December 3 before heading to Kansas City to face the Chiefs the following Sunday.
