SEAHAWKS HANDLE HAPLESS RAMS

2009-11-30
TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG The Seattle Seahawks have been an awful road team all year long, but all it took for them to end their five game losing streak away from home was a trip to St. Louis.  The Seahawks made short work of arguably the NFL’s worst team in front of a half full, apathetic Edward Jones Dome to eventually prevail by a final score of 27-17.  Running back Justin Forsett was the catalyst for the Seahawks as he ran for a career high 130 yards and two touchdowns.  Seattle improved their record to 4-7 while the Rams’ downward spiral continued leaving their record at 1-10.

NFL football betting fans were also rewarded by the Seahawks’ win as Seattle covered as -3 road favorites.  Seattle improved their NFL pointspread record to 4-7 on the year, while St. Louis dropped to 5-6.  The 44 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 42’.  Seattle has gone OVER in six of their eleven games this year, including four of their last five.  St. Louis has also gone OVER in six of their eleven contests.

Even though the Rams weren’t the most formidable opponent, Seahawks’ cornerback Josh Wilson said that getting the win was what mattered most:

"No matter what their record is, you've got to celebrate, be happy and keep it going. If it wasn't for the 'W' I wouldn't be doing this interview with a smile on my face."

The Seahawks have feasted on the Rams for awhile now, having beaten them in ten straight games.  St. Louis also lost at home for the eleventh straight time.  Rams’ defensive end Leonard Little surveyed the carnage:

"Yeah, that was a step backward. I think we've got a long way to go, so we can't afford to take any steps backward."

Stephen Jackson played well despite suffering from back spasms, running for 89 yards and a touchdown:

"It wasn't 100 percent but I think we all know that. It was enough to get me through the game."

Seahawks’ linebacker Aaron Curry said he enjoyed the challenge of going against Jackson:

"The first time I played him he verbally assaulted me. But he's a good dude. I think it's like who's going to lose their cool first, and it isn't going to be me."

Seahawks’ quarterback Matt Hasselbeck didn’t put up big numbers, but was pleased with the way his offense performed:

"We've been working very hard getting the run game going and it was definitely a point of emphasis. The fact we had some breakout runs, some explosive gains in the run game, it's really a good thing."

Seattle will host the San Francisco 49ers in the ‘Jet City’ next Sunday, with the Seahawks a -1 home favorite and the total set at 41.  They’ll play on the road against the Houston Texans one week later before returning home to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 20.  The Rams play their next two games on the road, starting with a contest against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field next Sunday.  St. Louis is a +9 road underdog with the total set at 41.  They’ll head to Nashville one week later to face the Tennessee Titans before returning home on December 20 to play the Houston Texans.
