COLTS REMAIN UNDEFEATED WITH VICTORY OVER TEXANS

2009-12-03
TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG To hear all of the media hype about the New Orleans Saints and their undefeated season, you’d think that they were the only NFL team still without a loss.  The Indianapolis Colts might be fine with a lower profile, but they’ve been able to match the Saints win for win and after a 35-27 victory over the Houston Texans also have an unblemished 11-0 record.  Trailing 20-7 at halftime, Peyton Manning rallied the Colts in the second half and the team used a 21 point fourth quarter to seal the victory.  Manning threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions.  Indianapolis improved to 11-0, while Houston slipped to 5-6.

The Colts also managed to take the money for NFL football betting enthusiasts, covering as -3 road favorites.  Indy is now 7-4 against the NFL pointspread this season, while Houston’s record dropped to 5-5-1 against the number.  The 62 combined points scored went OVER the posted total of 48’.  The Colts have gone OVER in 5 of their 11 games this season, while the Texans have gone OVER in only four of their eleven contests.

With the win, the Colts secured a playoff berth and the AFC South title.  Safety Antoine Bethea said that was a goal coming into the season:

"That's our goal coming into training camp. We wanted to win our division."

Quarterback Manning commended his team on their cool professionalism:

"We don't get overexcited certainly when things aren't going the way we want them to. We don't panic, we don't yell, we don't throw helmets. We just try to put the series behind us and move on to the next one. There was a lot of that Sunday.”

Wide receiver Reggie Wayne concurred with his quarterback’s assessment:

"If you doubt, you're done. It's just like showing a bad poker face. If they see that, you're in trouble. Guys just stick with it. We knew the defense was going to pick it up. We know we have to take care of the offense and get some drives going."

Texans’ receiver Andre Johnson said his team has to learn to put together a complete game effort:

"This isn't the first time this has happened to us. It's just real frustrating. I'm very upset with myself. It's kind of sounding like a broken record, we've just got to find a way to play for four quarters."

The Colts will try to keep their undefeated season alive as they host the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.  Indianapolis is a -6’ home favorite with the total set at 47.  They’ll host the Denver Broncos the following Sunday before playing the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road on Thursday, December 17.  The Texans will play on the road against the Jaguars this Saturday, in a ‘pick’em’ game with the total set at 46’.  They’ll host the Seattle Seahawks the following week before playing on the road against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, December 20.
