JETS’ PASS COVERAGE SUPERSTAR REVIS TO MISS SUNDAY’S GAME AGAINST BILLS

2010-09-30
TITANS WILL TRY TO TRADE VINCE YOUNG New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is continuing to recover from his strained hamstring, but is still at least a week away from returning.  As a result, he’ll miss Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.  Revis hasn't practiced since sustaining the injury in a Monday Night Football game against New England two weeks ago and has been downgraded to 'expected to miss' on the latest injury report.  Jets' coach Rex Ryan didn't completely rule him out on Wednesday, but didn’t exactly offer much hope for him to play either:

"I don't feel great about Darrelle right now. I don't want to rule him out yet because I don't want to get fined by the league if he plays."

Currently, doctors expect Revis to need two more weeks of rest to get back to 100%.  He may try to play against Minnesota a week from Monday.

With rookie Kyle Wilson struggling to fill Revis' position the Jets plan to move Drew Coleman into the starting lineup.  Coleman and Wilson rotated in and out during the Jets’ win at Miami on Sunday night, with Coleman bolstering his case by hauling in a game clinching interception in the end zone.  Ryan likes what he's seen from Coleman:

"He closed out the game pretty well. He deserves a look in there. We'll see how it develops as the week goes on."

About Wilson, who has had problems getting beat on coverage and incurring penalties Ryan concluded:

"He's playing green right now."

Wilson realizes that he still has work to do in order to become a legitimate NFL starter:

"I have to be a smarter player and envision myself making those plays out there in the future."

The Jets did get some good injury news about outside linebacker Calvin Pace, who hasn't played since breaking his foot in the preseason.  He did some light work on Wednesday and is expected to return to practice today.

New York will be facing a Buffalo team playing for the first time since releasing starting quarterback Trent Edwards and turning the position over to Ryan Fitzpatrick.  The Jets are a -5 point NFL football betting favorite with the total set at 36’.  New York will return home for a game against Minnesota next Monday night followed by a trip to Denver to face the Broncos.
