Scottish professional soccer is organized in much the same way as in England, and the top soccer league in the country is also known as the Premier League (SPL). The current pro soccer infrastructure in Scotland dates back until the mid 70's, and while the current product is very popular within the country its not considered to be on the same level in terms of play quality as many of their European neighbors. In terms of per capita support, Scottish TV ratings reflect that a higher percentage of its population watches the SPL's games than any other league in Europe. Only two teams have ever won the SPL title--Celtic and Rangers.
